Where Did All These Apostles Come From?

Where did all these Apostles come from? I’m convinced that within the Black Church, many people take titles they don’t properly understand. The motive behind this varies, from using the title as a means of soothing/inflating the ego, to using it because it’s faddish and en vogue.

The misuse of this title creates issues of epistemological and ecclesiastical authority. Do these modern-day Apostles possess the same scope of authority as Peter and Paul? Should their writings be considered Divinely inspired and equal to Scripture? What are the implications as this title proliferates within various ecclesiastical streams?

Unfortunately, when this conversation is had, both sides tend to lack the nuance that’s necessary to flesh this out properly. Either, there’s a blanket condemnation of the apostolic continuing in ANY sense, or there’s an uncritical acceptance of the apostolic without caveats.
